Currently based in Suva,
Fiji, the FSPI Secretariat serves as the regional nexus for the FSPI
NGO network. We work in partnership with our network affiliates and
partner agencies to design and implement projects that foster the empowerment
and viability of Pacific communities.
As a regional co-ordinating body, our major roles and responsibilities
are to:
provide technical
and capacity-building assistance to the network and other NGOs;
provide sector-specific
support in the areas of community health, community-based natural
resource management, education and enterprise, with an underlying
focus on good governance;
promote dialogue
and offer guidance and vision to the region;
manage the network's
regional programs; and
liaise with regional
organizations, governments, multilateral partners and donors.
Long-term regional
program planning assistance offered by FSPI provides for:
a
cost effective approach for program management and for professional
assistance that address country specific needs;
strengthening
and promoting NGO/Government networking throughout the region to
share successful ideas, human resources, technical assistance and
lessons learned;
building on existing
materials from the region in order to develop effective, culturally
appropriate materials that can be used with simple modification
in each country;
increasing the
effectiveness of FSPI staff skills and knowledge in order to extend
their work to other communities, government agencies and NGO colleagues;
and
providing standards
of quality control for organisational and project operations through
our FSPI Network Code of Conduct.
