Timor Aid has been registered with the United Nations
Transitional Administration (UNTAET), the governing authority in East
Timor. Its Constitution, valid from 01 January 2000, specifies 5 Founding
Members of the organization who must be East Timorese or people that were
eligible to vote in the August 1999 UN sponsored Consultation. The 5
founding members plus 5 people form the governing body of the organization,
to be Chaired by Honorary Chairman Dr José Ramos Horta.

TA is committed to increase the participation of women in the Board
after Independence. Two East Timorese women are currently being
considered.
