Success Stories

For less than the price of a 4WD they have recently run a project on Tanna for a year with one staff member training a large number of traditional birth attendants who are often located in some of the more isolated locations in the whole country. They have also built a birthing house, which they now manage. Their success is in making the effort to reach people and making a positive impact on their lives instead of sitting back and talking about their problems and our limitations. They do not need any more poverty indicators and statistics - what they need is less poverty.

Youth Drop In Centre  (YDIC)
Due to the success of the Vila Youth Drop In Centre, the Ministry of Health and SPC (through their Adolescent Reproductive Health project) invited FSPV to share their own YDIC in Luganville for the youth of Santo and they have been there since September 2002.  This project was fully funded by AUSAID for a year.
