Advocacy Most Pacific Island Countries (PICs) are in the process of reviewing Mental Health legislations and do not yet have effective and proactive national mental health policies. The MMHV Response The project looks to inform legislation and policy to ensure that: There are national conceptual frameworks that include all stakeholders esp. policy developers, people living with mental illness, youth, communities. There are affirmative action policies for people living with mental illness (human rights – treatment/care: education and employment opportunities). The important roles that NGOs and communities play in addressing mental health issues are highlighted and encouraged.
